Top 10 Facts about BiG
BiG is a four-day vocational community where adults with special needs engage in meaningful work and create marketable items such as: hand crafted pottery, specialty soaps, cards, jewelry, dog treats and more. Citizens also make culinary items including, cookies, fudge, granola and pies.
BiG products are sold at our award-winning Gift Shop and Café.
Gift Shop Hours: Mon-Sat 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Café Hours: Mon-Sat 8:00 am - 2:30 pm
BiG is a God-centered program where we believe every Citizen is “fearfully and wonderfully made” and has something significant to contribute.
BiG is a nonprofit and takes no government money.
BiG is a tuition-based program. Need-based scholarships are available.
BiG Citizens earn a paycheck every two weeks.
BiG is all about “interdependence” where every individual is a valued part of the program. “I need you and you need me to do the work set before us.”
BiG is made of three campuses that specialize in different enterprises and offerings:
BiG Main campus, where the Gift Shop and Café reside.
BiG LIGHT campus is located in Georgetown Church of Christ
BiG ATX right off of UT’s campus in University Avenue Church of Christ.
BiG has a residential community for Citizens. Grace Place is located about six miles from our main campus in Weir. When completed, Grace Place will provide homes for 80 Citizens plus staff.
BiG is blessed to have more than 100 weekly volunteers and has many opportunities for you to get involved.
